Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the ‘Odisha Parba 2024’ event held in New Delhi on November 24, 2024. The event took place at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium where PM Modi addressed the gathering, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Odisha. He highlighted Odisha as a land of saints and scholars, emphasizing its significant role in India’s cultural and developmental landscape. The Prime Minister also noted that the central government’s budget allocation to Odisha is now three times larger than it was ten years ago, underscoring the developmental focus on the state.
The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of taking initiatives to inform the world about Odisha’s diverse identities. Bali Jatra Day can be one such example, which can be popularised and promoted on an international scale. Odissi Day for arts including Odissi dance can be used for highlighting diverse heritages. Shri Modi suggested for raising public awareness about opportunities in tourism, by organising event at school and collage level. He noted that Pravasi Bharatiya Sammelan will be conducted in Bhubaneswar in the coming days, which was a big opportunity.
Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Dharmendra Pradhan were also present at the event. The festival itself is organized by Odia Samaj, a trust based in New Delhi, aimed at preserving and promoting Odisha’s heritage through vibrant cultural displays and a national seminar featuring experts from various fields.
