Samsung Wallet Now Supports Digital Key Feature for Audi

Samsung has announced that its Wallet has now been made compatible for Audi users, by introducing support for the Digital Key feature for select Audi vehicles.

This means that compatible Galaxy phone users can now use their smartphones to perform functions like locking, unlocking, and potentially even starting their Audi car, similar to what they can do with vehicles from other brands.

This feature leverages ultra-wideband (UWB) technologies for a seamless and secure interaction between your smartphone and your car.

Digital Keys are securely incorporated into the device, satisfying stringent EAL6+4 security standards to prevent unauthorised access. Digital Keys use UWB technology, a standardised communication protocol developed by the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC), to provide accurate operation while considerably reducing the possibility of unauthorised vehicle access.

Samsung Wallet is a digital wallet platform developed by Samsung, designed to consolidate various digital services into one secure application for Samsung Galaxy users. Users can add and manage credit, debit, gift, and membership cards for contactless payments at NFC-enabled terminals.

Integration with SmartThings allows for digital keys for homes and cars. Samsung Wallet extended this functionality to include Audi vehicles, alongside existing support for brands like BMW, Genesis, and Hyundai.

Consumer can store boarding passes, movie tickets, and other event tickets, accessible via QR or barcode scanning. Samsung Wallet can connect with cryptocurrency exchanges to monitor crypto assets, although direct transactions might require separate blockchain wallet apps. Users can use Samsung Wallet features like payments or showing boarding passes on compatible Galaxy Watches.

Samsung Wallet is fortified by Samsung Knox, ensuring high security with features like fingerprint recognition, encryption, and tokenization for payments. Samsung Wallet has expanded its availability globally, enhancing features tailored for different markets, like digital ID support in the U.S.
