Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) has launched the ‘TRANSFORM Plastics Challenge,’ a programme designed to help Indian start-ups. Program is a collaboration between Unilever, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the United Kingdom (FCDO), and EY. In collaboration with Social Alpha, program will support Indian tech start-ups working in the areas of plastic waste management and circularity.
Over the past few years, India has seen the emergence of a thriving start-up community with several organisations working to find social and environmental solutions.
Program will focus on identifying those start-ups, which are working in the area of developing new technology solutions for processing plastic waste. Technology should focus on re-use which is economically viable or have refill models. Start-ups has to be working on material related innovations that has use case of making packaging recyclable or compostable.

The Challenge invites start-ups who are already building innovative and scalable solutions to apply and ensure that plastic waste does not end up in landfills and oceans but stays in the circular economy.
HUL is committed to collecting and processing more plastic than it sells, and using 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable plastic packaging, by 2025.
