The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation has awarded Tata Motors an order for 921 electric buses (BMTC). According to the contract, Tata Motors will supply, operate, and maintain 12-metre electric buses for a period of 12 years under the larger tender by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL). The Tata Starbus is an indigenously developed vehicle with superior design and best-in-class features designed for environmentally friendly and comfortable transportation.
Convergence is an EESL Group green energy venture owned by central public sector undertakings under the Ministry of Power, New and Renewable Energy.

According to Ms. G Sathyavathi, IAS, Managing Director of Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation, order is critical for Bengaluru’s growing need for clean, sustainable urban mass mobility. BMTC will introduce modern electric buses that will attract maximum ridership for environmentally friendly public transportation.
