President Biden emphasised Washington’s support for the Abraham Accords during a speech in Israel, which saw Israel normalise relations with the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco.
Israel and Saudi Arabia traditionally does not have diplomatic relations and opening of air space is being regarded as a big breakthrough. According to experts, Saudi Arab has significant influence over Bahrain’s foreign policy and earlier deal with Bahrain would not have been possible without a go ahead from Saudi Arab
President Biden also met with Mahmoud Abbas, the head of the Palestinian Authority, and reaffirmed his support for a two-state solution. The 1967 boundaries will serve as the foundation for the solution, with land swaps agreed upon by both Israelis and Palestinians. He also emphasised the significance of direct talks that result in the establishment of a Palestinian state alongside the State of Israel that is autonomous, viable, and contiguous. Israel and Palestine will have secure and acknowledged borders under the two-state solution, enabling the two peoples to coexist in harmony and safety. President Biden reaffirmed the American position that Jerusalem is Israel’s capital.
